Emilie, Stella, Inès and Marion are inseparable. The 13-year-olds share the joys and hardships that come with puberty, and their awakening interest in boys. They endure humiliations in gym class together, think up silly pranks and strange rituals, have crushes on classmates and actors, and don't always have it easy at home with their parents. Their imaginative ideas are lovingly dramatized, in the bright colors of the 70s, with songs such as Ballroom Blitz, Can the Can and plenty of Viennese waltz music. Full of vitality, the TV devotes itself to the fantasies, desires and fears of young girls. Suspecting that nothing will remain as it is, the friends make a blood pact. LA VIE NE ME FAIT PAS PEUR (1999) follows up on their story. (bik)
